Main Purpose of Job

This part-time contractual position serves as the Nurse Program Consultant for the Clinical Data Base (CDB) managed by the Surveillance and Evaluation Unit within the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control in DHMH.  This position is responsible for providing clinical quality review of data entered into a large clinical database for a cancer prevention, education, screening and treatment program.  The incumbent will also provide consultation and training on the collection of clinical data to DHMH staff and health providers at local health departments, academic health centers, and hospitals across the state of Maryland.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Five years of experiences as a Registered Nurse including one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity.

NOTES:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or health-related field from an accredited college or university and two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education.

2. A PhD in Nursing from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have experience in either a public health and/or clinical setting with experience in oncology preferred and experience in database management and the production of data reports.. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
