Main Purpose of Job

The main goal of this position will be to provide supervision of full investigations being conducted into the allegations of violations of the Medical Practice Act, which are complete, thorough, accurate, and timely, so that the citizens of Maryland are protected through efficient and effective discipline of physicians and allied health providers, under the Board's jurisdiction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: possesion of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and/or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in conducting investigations within the areas of health care, insurance, medical malpractice, and/or other related experience in investigative areas as defined by the Maryland Board of Physicians.

Notes:

1. Experience conducting investigations in the area of health care, insurance, medical malpractice or other related experience in investigative areas, as defined by the Maryland Board of Physicians, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

2. A Master’s degree may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience.

3. A Juris Doctorate may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Legal or Investigator classification or Legal or Investigator specialty codes in the Investigation field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position should have at least two (2) years of paralegal experience.
