Main Purpose of Job

This is a professional part-time position responsible for providing leadership and technical assistance to maximize the quality of meals served by agencies participating in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program and Child and Adult Care Food Program Afterschool Meals component.

POSITION DUTIES

Leads the assessment of summer and afterschool meals at a variety of Agency site types to assess and document meal quality. Provides technical assistance for summer and afterschool meal agencies on methods to maximize the quality of meals. Designs methods and procedures to collect and analyze data on summer and afterschool meal quality. Conducts meal quality evaluation visits at summer and afterschool meals sites. Establishes standards for and assesses meals for freshness, general appearance and any other pertinent criteria regarding quality and condition. Performs quality evaluations, reports findings and provides recommendations. Determines training needs and performs technical assistance to agencies. Prepare reports to communicate to project team the results of on-site observations. Serve as a liaison, support and facilitator between MSDE and agencies. Promotes a positive atmosphere and utilizes outstanding communication skills through confidence building, constructive criticism and individual development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Food Service Administration, Consumer Science, Dietetics, Nutrition, Public Health or a related area.  

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional experience in nutrition program administration, coordination or management, or related area is required.  

NOTES:  A Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience.
