Introduction

This is a full time grant-funded, two-year contractual position with the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT), the State's historic preservation office, located within the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP).

Main Purpose of Job

Maryland Historical Trust is seeking a Historic Preservation Data Technician to assist with a grant-funded, large data development project. Duties will include researching architectural and archeological resources (especially those 'contributing' to historic districts) based on submitted forms, data input, digitizing property boundaries, quality checking digitized data and database information, cross-referencing archeological projects with information on historic buildings and districts, and updating the database. Applicant will also work with the library and GIS staff in maintaining related GIS and database records, and in developing new procedures for handling digital materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Anthropology, Architectural History, or closely related field.

Experience:  Proficiency with databases and with computerized file management is required

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred:  Familiarity with cultural resources of the Middle Atlantic region
