Main Purpose of Job

This is a half-time professional position within the Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility program at the Workforce & Technology Center that specializes in the application of occupational therapy to promote employment and/or independence of individuals with disabilities.

POSITION DUTIES

Select and administer appropriate pre-driving assessments to determine individuals’ with severe disabilities ability to drive.  Perform functional assessments of individuals with cognitive, physical, and/or visual disabilities to determine their capability to actively participate in their vocational and/or independent living plans.  Provide assessments of home, training, and work sites.  Assessments include, but are not limited to, standard OT testing protocols, workstation design, seating and positioning, ergonomics, computer access and adaptive driving.  Prepare comprehensive reports documenting consumer needs, services provided, and recommendations.  Services are provided at WTC and throughout Maryland.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and a valid license from the Maryland Board of Occupational Therapy Practice.

Experience: 3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist. 

NOTE: A Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and experience providing pre-driving assessments is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as an Occupational Therapist from the Board of Occupational Therapy Practice, Spring Grove Hospital Center, Bland Bryant Building, 4th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21228. 

2. Must possess a valid driver’s license.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to Substance Abuse Testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs, and applicants must consent to State Police Investigation as a routine procedure for all employees in this classification. 

Employees are subject to call 24 hours a day and, therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
