Main Purpose of Job
Maintain proper operation of UHF television transmitters, in compliance with FCC rules and regulations. Works to meet all performance criteria for high quality reception. Installs, repairs and maintains UHF television transmitters and ancillary equipment, distribution amplifiers, transmitter remote control equipment, Emergency Alert System equipment, television test and measurement systems and video monitors.
POSITION DUTIES
- Locates defects such as loose connections, broken wires or burned out components, using schematic diagrams, test equipment and inspection tags.
- Inspects wiring and soldering, and performs repairs, using appropriate repair equipment and diagrams.
- Tests equipment for power output, frequency, and calibration, using appropriate equipment.
- Replaces defective components such as conductors, resistors, semiconductors and integrated circuits.
- Tests noise levels and audio quality using appropriate equipment.
- Monitors equipment to detect flaws in transmission and makes necessary appropriate adjustment.
- Removes and replaces defective units.
- Adjusts receivers for maximum sensitivity and adjusts transmitters for maximum output.
- Installs, tests, modifies and repairs intercommunications systems.
- Tests emergency transmitter to ensure readiness.
- Prepares and maintains maintenance logs and data sheets.
- Maintains inventory of equipment and parts and completes necessary inventory paperwork.
- May perform other duties as assigned or necessary for the success of the division.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in electronics or electrical engineering OR equivalent combination of related coursework and experience
- Two years experience in broadcast environment performing maintenance, repair and installation of transmitting and receiving equipment and systems. Experience must include preventative maintenance procedures.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
FCC License Preferred
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position may require flexible work schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. This position may require working outside in unfavorable weather conditions.
