Main Purpose of Job
The Grants Management Manager Staff Specialist II Higher Education works collaboratively with other MHEC departments and other entities to promote college access and success for Maryland citizens. The position supports related grants programs such as the College Access Challenge Grant Program (CACGP), Gaining Early Awareness and readiness for Undergraduates Program (GEAR UP), and the College Preparation Intervention Program (CPIP). The position works with the Executive Director , Public Relations, Outreach and Grants Management to identify, apply for and obtain federal, State and private grant funds that support programs that promote the State Plan for Postsecondary Education goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree.
Experience: Two years of administrative or teaching experience in post-secondary education programs.
Notes:
1. Possession of a master's degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
2. Possession of a doctoral degree may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
This recruitment is limited to current permanent and contractual employees of the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of experience must involve working directly with grants administration.

Successful candidates will be ranked as Best Qualified, Better Qualified, or Qualified and placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
