LOCATION OF POSITION

DHMH/Spring Grove Hospital Center, Dietary Services Unit, Catonsville, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise the activities of food production, tray assembly, and tray delivery of approximately 1200 meals per day in a large food service operation. This position will coordinate the duties of food service personnel to produce meals with the responsibility of appearance, texture, portion control, temperatures, and safe food handling procedures. This position will receive general supervision from a Food Service Manager or higher level Administrator. This position is considered emergency essential and will rotate weekend coverage.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of the required education.

2. Additional education in the area of food service management, nutritional care, institutional administration or a related area may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Food Preparation and Serving classifications or Food Preparation and Serving specialty codes in the Food Service field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached or carry an electronic pager.
