POSITION DUTIES
The Administrative Officer III will work within the Accounting Department at the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS). The incumbent will maintain the Stromberg system to support the staff that works within all of the DJS facilities. The Administrative Officer III will perform as the point of contact at DJS for Payroll and SPS/Workday as it relates to Payroll and Timekeeping functions. The position also serves as the statewide coordinator for the Department's payroll/timekeeping systems. The incumbent will ensure that employees' pay are processed correctly and make any necessary adjustments.
The Administrative Officer III will help assess and identify the training needs of timekeepers to ensure that payroll is processed accurately. The position requires the incumbent to interact with the Director of Accounting, DJS Executive staff, MD. State Gov't agencies, and employees to accomplish the following: discuss accounting issues, provide fiscal data, and coordinate resolutions to various payroll issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience: Three years experience in administrative or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
