LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, is currently accepting applications for six (6) Seasonal Ranger Positions that will work at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Park located in Dorchester County and Bill Burton Fishing Pier State Park in Talbot and Dorchester Counties. Daily tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide visitors with park information and regulations
- General maintenance of park trails, public facilities, staff buildings and state vehicles
- Staff the visitor center and work closely with state partners
- Provide quality interpretive programming including tours about Harriet Tubman's early years in Dorchester County and the Underground Railroad
- Clean the visitor center, administrative building, pavilion, restrooms and other locations.
Note: Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: None.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).
An Associate's Degree or higher is preferred.
Two years of interpretive experience is preferred.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
