LOCATION OF POSITION
Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA), Baltimore, MD
Main Purpose of Job
This position conducts a variety of analytic, administrative, and coordinative tasks in support of statewide public health policy development and strategic planning for the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) within the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration (PHPA). This position is responsible for conducting and supporting special projects of the Bureau, and ongoing liaison and coordination of functions with appropriate/relevant units within PHPA, and other Departmental and external public and private entities at the local, regional, state, and national levels. This position also provides program coordination responsibilities for new or existing initiatives as assigned. This position is involved in strategic direction, policy development, and program planning. This is a lead staff position with professional responsibilities that are essential for effective and efficient program management.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two years of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.
Notes:
1. A Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
2. A PhD in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will have a background and experience in women's health, child health and policy analysis.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
