Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position will involve processing Maryland gaming license applications and reviewing the suitability to renew existing Maryland gaming licenses and/or temporary gaming licenses. The employee is responsible for determining the financial, regulatory and overall due diligence considerations for one or more of the Video Lottery Terminal (VLT) facility operators, manufacturers, contractors, their officers, directors, employees, and other designated person as required.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Examination, evaluation, and investigation of all applicants to provide assurance that applicants meet suitability requirements as established by law;
  • Conduct field investigations and interviews of applicants, witnesses, and other relevant parties to corroborate information on applications;
  • Process all recommendations made by the Managing Director to deny Maryland Gaming license applications, revoke existing Maryland Gaming licenses or terminate Temporary Gaming licenses. 
  • Maintain each case file in a manner which allows for the careful documentation during the denial, revocation or termination process.
  • Prepare necessary documentation and correspondence for the Lottery Commission meetings. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

-        Proficiency in working with Microsoft .

-        Investigative experience within the gaming industry.

-        Gaming and investigative experience applying COMAR.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to existing Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency employees.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
