Main Purpose of Job

This recruitment is for two positions.

Position 1- The main purpose of this position is to coordinate a county-wide network of resources for individuals and families impacted by substance-related disorders, with the goal of eliminating barriers to treatment and recovery and ensuring public awareness of the services offered by private providers, human services agencies and community organizations.

Position 2- The main purpose of this position is to utilize personal experience as a tool to provide family-to-family support, education, advocacy, coaching, information and referral and follow-up to families seeking assistance connecting to substance-related treatment, peer support and recovery services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

Notes:

1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.Resource Coordinator preferred qualifications:

The Ideal candidate should have experience navigating systems of care, collecting and analyzing data, monitoring program performance and generating reports. Also experience planning and conducting community outreach and awareness meetings, special events and activities. Also managing online databases, websites and social media platforms. Lastly, familiarity with policy and legislative matters and background in communications, public relations or marketing preferred.

 

2.Family Support Coordinator preferred qualifications:

The Ideal candidate should have experience with substance use disorders, treatment and recovery processes, also must of been in recovery for a period of at least two years, be a certified peer support specialist or be able to obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Experience navigating systems of care, and working with recovery and peer support networks, and conducting community outreach and awareness meetings, events and activities preferred.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
