Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative assistance to the Director of Purchasing in the procurement of materials, supplies and equipment for the Springfield Hospital Center with an operating budget of $11 million.  In addition, this position will be responsible for scheduling cycle counts; adding/deleting commodities; initiating adjustments; scheduling random sampling; and, purchasing all food items for the hospital.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a State high school equivalence certificate.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in receiving, storing, issuing, purchasing and requisitioning supplies, materials and equipment, three (3) years of which must have included experience at the supervisory or management level or must have involved the final responsibility for purchasing and requisitioning.

Note: Applicants may substitute education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for one year of experience for up to one year of the required general experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
