Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative and clinical direction and supervision over the Nursing and Community Health Division of the Charles County Health Department including responsibility for employees, grants and programs managed by the Division.  This position plans, develops, implements and evaluates the programs carried out by the Division by:  establishing and maintaining budget;  establishing and maintaining a system to monitor the progress of programs; preparing and/or assuring preparation of reports, service costing, budget, program and performance standards; and, establishing and maintaining needed policies and procedures to carry out the work of the program and it's divisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree in nursing, public health or a related field from an accredited college or university and four years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or two years of experience as a community health nurse and three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a registered nurse.

A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and five years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education and experience. 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience providing nursing support to Communicable Diseases and Reproductive Health Programs and providing clinical and case management services is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
