Main Purpose of Job

The Deputy Facilities Management Branch Chief is responsible for the daily operation of the branch; generating policy and procedures, ensuring adherence to policy and procedures, coordinating with other Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO) Branches, Director of Installations, Department of General Services, review of projects scope of work, supervising subordinate staff and mentoring them in facility management, and conducting field visits for quality control and quality assurance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience as a design and project manager engineer or architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects.

Notes:

1. Additional experience as an engineer or architect in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements may be substituted for the education and experience requirements.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

**For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be afforded to applicants with experience in the following:

Licensed architect or engineer in the State of Maryland

Experience with facilities operations and maintenance through the exclusive use of contracts

Knowledge of Integrated Work Management Systems (IWMS) and PrideWEB

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees may be required to carry an electronic paging device or provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached after normal business hours.

Employees are required to obtain National agency clearance investigation within six months of employment. Employee who fail to obtain the clearance will be subject to disciplinary action up to an including termination.
