The Department of Housing and Community Development's Headquarters Office is located in Prince George's County at the New Carrollton Metro stop.

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Housing and Community Development is recruiting for an Agency Project Engineer/Architect Supervisor.  This position is responsible for the administration of the Maryland Accessibility Code Program, the Energy Conservation Code Program and the Minimum Livability Code Program.  This position is also responsible for the Code Training Program and Certification Program.  Additionally, this position provides assistance to the Industrialized Buildings and Manufactured Homes Program, adoption of Maryland Building Performance Standards and Model Performance Code.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience as a design and project manager engineer or architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects.

Notes:

1. Additional experience as an engineer or architect in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements may be substituted for the education and experience requirements. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and

3. Architecture classification or Engineering Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for-    year basis for the required experience and education

 

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements
  • Working knowledge of the Maryland Accessibility Code Program
  • Working knowledge of the I-Codes, published by International Code Council, more specifically the International building Codes, International Residential Code & International Energy Conservation Code

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees may be required to carry an electronic paging device or provide the employing agency with a telephone number where the employee can be reached after normal business hours.
