Main Purpose of Job

This professional position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of Maryland's Digital Resource repository as well as related state-wide professional development.

POSITION DUTIES

Provide leadership in the development, communication, and delivery of a professional development plan related to the roll out and implementation of a digital resource repository (searchable collection of resources) for teaching and learning in Maryland. This state-wide implementation will include differentiated training models, training modules/materials, guides and timelines for the introduction and use of repository instructional resources.

Provides technical assistance to increase the capacity of the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) in providing open educational digital resources that align with the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards, Maryland State Standards, and assessments. Meta-tags will be assigned to resources to allow for robust searching capability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in Instructional Technology, School Library Media, or Education.

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years of teaching experience in the K12 environment; teaching experience that includes the integration of digital resources; developing and delivering professional learning opportunities for educators.

NOTE: Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s Degree.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
