MPT internships offer a thorough introduction to Maryland Public Television including our mission and expectations. Maryland Public Television is committed to providing solid work experience to serious minded individuals in a positive environment.

All MPT internships are unpaid. An intern that is not for academic credit is deemed a volunteer.

Maryland Public Television offers full- and part-time internships for college students throughout the year. Internships are specifically designed to provide training and experience for students interested in public broadcasting.

This Internship provides an insight into the technical aspects of television and multi-media broadcast production. An intern may assist videographers/editors, television directors or producers in studio and on location. A Production Assistant must be multi-talented and able to assist in the following areas: studio/location camera operator, teleprompter operator, videotape editor, location sound recordist, lighting director, floor director, studio supervisor and director. May include exposure to special effects design, switcher programming, character generator automation, production and post production audio, and multi-camera setups for studio and location. * All Candidates MUST have a flexible schedule and be able to travel. May assist with a variety of MPT productions (Direct Connection, Outdoors Maryland, etc.) and outside clients.

Qualified candidates will meet the following criteria:

Students must be a Junior, Senior or Graduate of a college, university, or trade school who must be able to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week and have reliable transportation.

Preferred Majors:  Communications / Mass Com. Radio / Television / Film

Interns will be evaluated based upon information submitted via this online application process and may be invited to interview.
