Main Purpose of Job
Psychology Associate, Doctorate is the nonlicensed, doctoral level of work rendering psychological services to residents, patients or clients. The main purpose of this position is to provide initial assessments, psychotherapeutic services (individual and group), psychological testing, and treatment planning for hospitalized psychiatric patients.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Possession of a doctoral degree in psychology as defined by the Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations, 18-101 (g). A copy of your transcript must be attached to your application.
Experience: One year of supervised experience rendering direct psychological services, providing psychological assessments, and evaluating the delivery of psychological services.
NOTE:
1.A twelve month full-time or twenty-four month half-time internship in rendering psychological services may be substituted for the required year of experience, provided that the internship is a requirement for the doctoral degree in Psychology.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Clinical Psychology classifications or Psychology specialty codes in the Psychology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
In accordance with the Annotated Code of Maryland, Health Occupations, 18-301 (b4), the Psychology Associate, Doctorate is required at the time of hire to apply jointly with the supervising Psychologist to the State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for an exemption from licensure. The exemption must be received within six months of submitting the application.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Candidates may be given a medical examination to determine their ability to perform job related functions.
2. The employee must become licensed as a psychologist by the Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists within three years of appointment to a position in the Psychology Associate, Doctorate classification.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
