Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to perform work involving collection and analysis of data requiring the application of advanced statistical techniques, independent interpretation of findings, and collaboration with program directors and program administrators to create final written reports. The employee works independently with program directors or other administrative personnel in assessing needs for descriptive and evaluative data to plan, execute, and present required data analysis reports including but not limited to program impact, and the cost benefit analysis of existing programs within the Queen Anne's County Department of Health. The functions of this job are necessary to evaluate the community impact and overall effectiveness of each program so that results can appropriately factor into planning and implementation logistics in order to improve program performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:    Possession of a master’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of nine semester hours, or the equivalent, of graduate coursework in research methodology, theoretical or applied statistics or measurement theory.  A copy of your transcript must be attached to your application.

Experience:  One year of post-master’s experience in statistical research.

NOTE:

Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Statistician classifications or Statistician and Intelligence Officer  specialty codes in the Statistics field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
