Main Purpose of Job

This position installs, repairs and maintains plumbing systems fixtures, and equipment for water, heating, air conditioning and drainage systems, such as; pipe, fittings, pumps, valves, steam converters, water closets, heat coils, and steam traps at the Fifth Regiment Armory- a 419,552 square-foot building that serves as the headquarters of the Maryland National Guard and the Maryland Military Department. Assist with other general repairs to the existing infrastructure. Maintains the plumbing and heating components of forty-two (42) Maryland Army National Guard Facilities, including 342-buildings, one (1)operational airfield, and four (4) Military Training sites, as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of the eighth grade.

Experience: Two years experience as a journeyman plumber, one year of which includes installing and repairing sanitary plumbing appliances.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in the plumbing field of work, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of a Maryland Journeyman/Gas Fitter License is required

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
