Main Purpose of Job

The Speech-Language Pathology/Audiologist provides skilled speech therapy services and supervises the work of staff Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure individualized evaluation and treatment for the patients/residents in the specialty hospital and comprehensive care programs. The Speech-Language Pathology/Audiologist functions as a positive role model in team building and facilitating carryover of interdisciplinary patient care goals with the purpose of progressing the patient efficiently to their maximum level of independent functioning.  This position provides direct patient services, including diagnostic evaluations, treatment, and family education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Set by the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists under the licensing requirements.

Experience: Three years of experience as a speech-language pathologist or audiologist.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Speech Pathologist and Audiologist classification or Speech Pathologist or Audiologist specialty codes in the Speech Pathology and Audiology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this class must possess a current license from the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists or the Maryland State Board of Examiners for Audiologists, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. Please attach copy of your current license or license verification to application or include license number and expiration date on application.

2. Employees in this class must renew their license in accordance with Title 2, Audiology, or Title 19, Speech-Language Pathology, Health Occupations Article, Annotated Code of Maryland.

3. A Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology or Audiology is required. A copy of the current certificate must accompany the application form (MS 100).

The evaluation may be a rating of your application based on your education, training and experience as they relate to the requirements of the position.  Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.  Please report all related education, experience, dates and hours of work. Clearly indicate your college degree and major on your application, if applicable.  For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the evaluation for equivalency by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.  All information concerning your qualifications must be submitted by the closing date.  We will not consider information submitted after this date.  Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
