Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide secretarial support to employees who manage and administer the Ambulatory Care Programs (ACP) Unit, to carry out both the state licensing and federal certification activities which includes Home Health Agencies, Hospice, Portable X-Ray, and Birthing Centers. This position requires familiarity with state licensing procedures and the ability to communicate program information to providers and the general public. The employee is responsible for insuring that all the responsibilities related to these programs are carried out in an efficient and timely manner. This position is an integral part of the mission of the Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ), which is to protect the health and safety of the citizens of Maryland and to ensure their public confidence in the health care and community service delivery systems through regulatory, enforcement, and educational services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant should have good customer service, knowledge of computers, and work as a team member. One year of experience should have involved working in an office environment, knowledge of computers and good telephone skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a typewriter or keyboard on a personal computer, computer terminal or work processor at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
