Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise, guide and direct a team of Office Services Clerks in the Family Investment Division at the Dundalk District Office. This position responds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems by reviewing, verifying, interpreting and editing information in accordance with federal, state, county, agency, and other applicable policies, procedures and guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES

This position is responsible for assigning, monitoring and reviewing the work of the Office Services Clerks to ensure work is completed in a timely manner; completes the Performance Planning & Evaluation Program (PEP) process; responds to inquiries, makes determinations and resolves problems by reviewing, verifying, interpreting and editing information in accordance with federal, state, county, agency, and other applicable policies, procedures and guidelines. This position trains new staff and assists staff in resolving clerical problems; assisting the District Manager in the daily operation of the office to help facilitate improved customer service; ensures that all applications, verification and redetermination information is narrated as needed, scanned and assigned to the appropriate case manager; ensures applications, redeterminations, and verifications are screened, pended, narrated, scanned and assigned accurately to case managers; performs clearinghouse functions to transfer cases in and out of the office to other jurisdictions within the state.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

It is imperative to list all computer and software experience on your application pertaining to your job duties.

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience performing clerical duties.

 Notes:

1. Additional experience performing clerical duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

 2. Applicants may substitute education from an accredited college or university at the rate of thirty semester credit hours for one year of experience on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

 3. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the administrative support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

1. One or more years experience working in a Family Investment Program (FIA).

2. One or more years experience using the Client Automated Resources Eligibility System (CARES).

3. Six months of experience supervising staff.
