Wicomico County Department of Social Services is located on Maryland's Eastern Shore, approximately 115 miles east of the Baltimore–Washington area, across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for organizing and compiling data related to the productivity of the processing and customer care unit within the Family Investment Department.

POSITION DUTIES

Provides customer service to external and internal customers.

Assigns appropriate number of tasks to the processing unity using Enterprise content management System (ECMS), compliance spreadsheet and redetermination due dates from Data Watch.

Compiles data which includes, but is not limited to, intake and redetermination numbers, interim changes, number of appeals, Maryland Health Connection (MHC) spreadsheet and tracking.

Assists with Group Redeterminations by logging in customers, initiating redeterminations and assisting with scanning process.

Provides training and guidance to new and existing customer care staff as well as feedback to the Assistant Director with regard to gaps in knowledge and proficiency.

Assists Business Manager and Assistant . Director  in the coordination of staff meetings, mail distribution, tracking applications and screening calls.

Screen spend down applications and initiate mail-in redeterminations. Provides other related clerical support as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

EXPERIENCE: None

NOTE:  

1. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in administrative or professional work for the required education, at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidates will have the following:

1.One or more years of experience using Excel computer software.   

2.One or more years of experience in assisting preparation of budgets and statistical reports. Experience working with and adhering to deadlines.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
