Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Administer a program bearing responsibility for the uninterrupted operation as required of forty sites across the state.
Maintain facility air conditioning, heating, sanitary, electrical, and structural requirements as projected or requested.
Organize an schedule skilled personnel as needed to maintain all facilities and oversees this work, which encompasses medium scale construction and alterations.
Maintain a preventative maintenance program for a wide variety of building and mechanical equipment of great diversity.
Possess a working knowledge in the practical applications and principles of electrical and mechanical equipment generally utilized in plant maintenance work.
Develop and revise procedures for the assignment and completion of work.
Purchase and maintain accurate inventory of all materials required.
Prepare estimates for materials and man hours for all projects.
Provide onsite guidance and review and inspect completed work on site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of eighth grade.
Experience: Six years of experience in building maintenance or building construction trades including five years of responsibility assigning, reviewing and approving the work of others and disciplining, evaluating the performance of, and recommending the hiring, firing and promoting of others.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance specialty codes in the utility systems repair field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in the licensed option must possess and maintain a current Maryland First Grade Stationary Engineer License from the Board of Examining Engineers.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
