LOCATION OF POSITION

Annapolis, MD (Anne Arundel County)

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Maryland Park Service, is currently accepting applications for a seasonal Administrative Assistant at Maryland Park Service headquarters office in Annapolis, Maryland (Anne Arundel County). The selected candidate will be responsible for answering phones, photocopying, issuing Maryland Park Service Annual Passports, Golden Age Passes and Youth Group Passes, typing, processing mail and greeting customers. Duties also include cash handling, using a cash register and completing deposits. The position will require extensive communication with State Park customers on a variety of issues, including park amenities, policies, and procedures. The incumbent must be able to speak and write effectively and with tact and sensitivity. Applicants must be available to work weekdays Monday through Friday.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: None.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

Administrative experience is preferred.

Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel and Access) is preferred.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
