LOCATION OF POSITION

Statewide positions; training unit will be based out of Anne Arundel County, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Maryland Park Service Training Division, is currently accepting applications for four (4) Seasonal Contractual Firearms Instructors. These positions will be part-time (less than 100 hours annually) and will provide staff instruction for pistol, rifle and shotgun.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Six (6) or more years of experience as a Maryland Police Training Commission certified firearms instructor with the Maryland Park Service and experience as a Ranger Safety Officer.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Current firearms instructor certification with the Maryland Police Training Commission.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following.  Include clear and specific information on your application regarding the qualification(s).

NRA Firearms Instructor for Home Firearms Safety, Rifle and Shotgun certification is preferred.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
