Introduction

APPLICATIONS CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED FOR IMMEDIATE SEASONAL HOURLY EMPLOYMENT - DAY SHIFT- IN THE MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, MOSQUITO CONTROL PROGRAM.

THIS IS CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYMENT, AND EMPLOYEES WILL BE PAID FOR ACTUAL HOURS WORKED ONLY.  A WORK WEEK WILL TYPICALLY CONSIST OF UP TO 40 HOURS DURING PEAK SEASONAL ACTIVITIES.

4 Openings - Anne Arundel County

2 Openings - Baltimore County

Main Purpose of Job

Seasonal employees needed to assist with surveillance and control of mosquito populations in Anne Arundel and Baltimore Counties.

POSITION DUTIES

JOB DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Mosquito Control Field Surveillance

Handling, mixing and applying pesitcides.

Record Keeping

Involves contact with the public, exposure to biting/stinging insects, ticks, poison ivy, pesticides, extensive walking in suburban, wooded and wetland areas, and may include driving a spray truck. Employees may be required to wear protective equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Age 18.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid Driver's License required, with no more than 5 points on driving record.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
