Main Purpose of Job

Under moderate supervision of the Bureau Administrator for Family Health Services, this position assists in the planning, preparation, compilation and monitoring of grants awarded by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and other granting organizations as well as the preparation and monitoring of grants and contracts awarded by the Bureau to a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit sub-vendors. This position functions at the intermediate level evaluating grant proposals, distributing monies, and monitoring and reporting for grant programs according to established policies and procedures for the following Bureau Programs - Administrative Care Coordinator (ACC)/Ombudsman, REACH (Residents Access to a Coalition of Health), MA for Families and MCHP, MA Transportation, Healthy Start, Surveillance Quality Initiative, AERS/Nurse Monitoring, WIC, and the Dental Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

Experience: One (I) year experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in administrative staff or professional work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for each year of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired applicant should have experience writing memos and developing reports and tracking systems and creating spreadsheets using MS excel.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
