Main Purpose of Job
This position will be working under the Maternal Childhood Home Visiting grant which provides Healthy Families America home visiting program to improve outcomes and reduce health and developmental disparities for at risk expectant families and families with young children. The main job functions are to conduct home visits and provide family assessment services to prenatal women and families with young children; develop screening regarding developmental, depression, and safety; provide evidence-based curriculum to enhance family functioning and strengthen parent child relationships; and conduct child growth and development activities with families during home visits.
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.
1. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
