Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Prevention Office with the coordination of statewide substance use disorder prevention technical assistance activities for County Prevention Coordinators, College Prevention Centers, and MSPF community grantees. This position, through review and study of local jurisdiction prevention strategic plans, will help Technical Assistance Coordinators to assess program performance and to identify and prioritize the technical assistance and training needs of grant-funded programs. The position will also help the Coordinators to develop, facilitate and/or provide technical assistance activities to meet those needs. The Technical Assistance Specialist will meet regularly with the contractual State MSPF Evaluation staff to help identify and plan technical assistance for grantees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, education, counseling or a related field.

NOTE:

1.  A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in another field plus one year of professional experience in health services may be substituted for the specific degree.

2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
