Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Coordinates the daily aircraft maintenance with the Director Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Mechanic Chief Inspector and Aviation Technician Inspector Supervisor/Production Control Supervisors. Assigns specific tasks to AMTH and MSP Avionics Technicians crew members to ensure maximum manpower utilization and the efficient flow of aircraft maintenance. Performs lead aviation technician functions and trains crew members on maintenance tasks with which they may not be familiar. Serves as a technical resource for the AMTH classification.
Performs all of the duties and responsibilities of an AMTH in support of assigned aircraft maintenance tasks. Maintains assigned tools in proper working condition.
Prepares and maintains documentation related to work activities of AMTH crew members in accordance with FAA and Departmental regulations to ensure all work is properly documented in aircraft records. Provides accurate data, such as job orders and the discrepancy log, to the manager of the Repair Station information system.
Performs Aircraft Inspector duties under the FAA Inspector Authorization License and the FAA Repair Station License. Ensures AMTH and MSP Avionics Technician work is performed in support of a job order is compliant with FAA and manufacturer standards. Will perform tasks as prescribed by the Director Aircraft Maintenance, Aviation Mechanic Chief Inspector, Aviation Technician Inspector Supervisor/Production Control Supervisor or Aviation Commander.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years of experience in the maintenance of turbine powered aircraft.
Notes:
1. Graduation from a Federal Aviation Administration’s Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
2. Additional experience repairing turbine powered aircraft may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in the Aviation Machinist Mate classifications or Aviation, Aerospace Maintenance, or Aircraft Maintenance specialty codes in the Aviation Maintenance field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a valid FAA Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic license. The license number and date of issue must be listed on the application.
2. Candidates must possess a current FAA Inspection Authorization. The license number and date must be listed in the application.
3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Applicants for positions with the Maryland State Police will be subject to a complete criminal background investigation and polygraph examination before permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the applicant.
2. Some positions in this classification are assigned duties, which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.
3. Employees in this classification may be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
4. Employees in this classification must have access to an automobile for use on official business in the event a State vehicle cannot be provided. Standard mileage allowance will be paid for use of a privately owned vehicle.
5. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
