Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide managerial supervision to all non-clinical department heads responsible for administering a program deemed essential in the everyday operations at a state facility This position bears full administrative responsibility for all non-clinical activity within the Center to include  Environment of Care, Information Technology, Maintenance and Plant Management, Dietetic Services, Police and Security, Volunteer Services, Learning Services, and the Café on the Grove. (The Spring Grove Hospital Center is the largest state psychiatric hospital within DHMH, with a $77 million budget, 870 employees, 425 patients, and 73 buildings on a 189 acre campus.) In addition, this position serves as a administrative liaison for hospital support to the tenants on campus which include the Office of Health Care Quality, Mental Hygiene Administration, Board of Dental Examiners, Board of Occupational Therapy, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Administration, SGHC Alumni Museum, University of Maryland/Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, and the Free State Theatre Organ Society. This positions receives managerial supervision from the Superintendent/CEO and is responsible for overseeing, revising, drafting and implementing administrative, departmental, clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures specific to the operation of a 24/7 mental health facility. This position is emergency essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates must possess 7 Years of healthcare operation experience (acute care, long term care, psychiatric care) in support services especially Maintenance, Housekeeping, Security, and Environment of Care.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ten years health care operation experience, preferably in Plant Management. Strong working knowledge of Environment of Care standards for The Joint Commission and Life Safety Code are essential.  Previous Upper Management experience at 500,000 - 1,000,000 square facility highly desirable.
