Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide professional and administrative leadership for the following divisions: Personal Health, AERS, Home Health, Healthy Families, and WIC.The position will plan and administer integrated nursing programs, set priorities, and evaluate budgets at the Garrett County Health Department through the supervision of Community Health Nurse Program Supervisors and Managers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree in nursing, public health or a related field from an accredited college or university and four years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity or two years of experience as a community health nurse and three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a registered nurse.

A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and five years of experience as a community health nurse in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity may be substituted for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Candidates will possess:

  • A master's degree in nursing
  • Five years of experience in public health
  • Experience in the preparation and oversight of multi-departmental budgets

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4201 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland
