Main Purpose of Job
This position will apply, interpret, and process program specific information, policies, and regulations related to the Maryland Children's Health Program. The main job functions are processing applications, redeterminations, inquiries, and other documents received for the Maryland Health Connection to determine that medical assistance or qualified health plan eligibility are providing assistance to internal and external customers regarding health insurance inputting information in the CARES system; and conducting marketing and outreach within the local community to educate consumers on insurance options.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
NOTES:
1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
