Main Purpose of Job
The Center for MADAP (Maryland AIDS Drug Assistance Program) is the service unit within the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration's Infectious Disease Prevention and Health Services Bureau. The Center's programs provide essential HIV medication, insurance premium assistance and HIV wrap-around services to eligible Marylanders with HIV/AIDS. MADAP provides access to medications for eligible people living with HIV/AIDS. MADAP Plus assists clients by paying their health insurance premiums thus providing access to inpatient and outpatient health care as well as prescription coverage. The MADAP Client Services Eligibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring accessibility to the program through application processing and insurance verification in compliance with state and federal regulations and compliance with MADAP policies and procedures. This position provides primary support to the MADAP and MADAP Plus programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.
NOTES:
1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate should have experience in health insurance and social services and/or community based programs. Experience in HIV services is a plus.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
