Main Purpose of Job

The Center for MADAP (Maryland AIDS Drug Assistance Program) is the service unit within the Prevention and Health Promotion Administration's Infectious Disease Prevention and Health Services Bureau. The Center's programs provide essential HIV medication, insurance premium assistance and HIV wrap-around services to eligible Marylanders with HIV/AIDS/ MADAP provides access to medications for eligible people living with HIV/AIDS. MADAP Plus assists clients by paying their health insurance premiums thus providing access to inpatient and outpatient health care as well as prescription coverage. The MADAP Client Services Eligibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring accessibility to the program through application processing and insurance verification in compliance with state and federal regulations and compliance with MADAP's policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant should have experience determining eligibility for government programs. Experience with HIV services is desirable.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
