Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to ensure the timely enrollment of low-income Medicare entitled persons in the federally mandated Buy-In Program. This position will ensure payment of Medicare Programs that guarantees Medicare insurance for this population, and to implement Federal and State policies, regulations and guidelines that govern eligibility for the provision of Medicare and Buy-In services. To provide customer services to recipients and other agencies regarding issues related to both Medicare and Medical Assistance eligibility. To provide on-going Medicare Buy-In eligibility for approximately 135,000 individuals certified through the State's Medical Assistance Program. This position has the responsibility of maintaining the integrity of the Medicare Buy-In Program by researching, resolving and updating complex Medical Assistance cases.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program.

Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
