Main Purpose of Job

This position carries responsibility for the overall organization and operation of performance Improvement, Utilization Management, Risk Management, and Joint Commission Survey Readiness and Response for Eastern Shore Hospital Center, supporting the mission of providing safe, patient-centered, cost-effective care. Lastly, the incumbent will be the director of the QI department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse to include two years of psychiatric nursing experience. One year of experience of the psychiatric experience in a supervisory, administrative, consultative or teaching capacity.

Notes:

1. A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the general experience as a Registered Nurse.

2. Two years of additional experience as a Registered Nurse in the option for which application is made may be substituted for the education requirement.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classifications or Nursing and Hospital Administration specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have Joint Commission Survey Readiness and Response experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license or license number must accompany your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete training and maintain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
