Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of the Medical Care Program Associates in the Presumptive Eligibility Unit. This position will assist the Medical Care Program Associates in administering the Medicare Buy-in Program in the implementation and performance of its responsibility, using independent judgement to accomplish program objectives. This position will coordinate all processing and operational functions necessary for the enrollment or dis-enrollment of Medical Assistance recipients in the Buy-in program. This position will apply Federal and State regulation, policies and procedures to provide Buy-in services for approximately 138,000 Medicare/Medicaid recipients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of clerical experience applying policies in a medical care, health insurance or federal or State entitlement program to include two years applying, interpreting and processing program specific information, policies, regulations and guidelines in a medical care program.

Notes: 1. Additional general clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. College credits from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 credit hours for one year of experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate should have a thorough knowledge and demonstrated application of Medical Assistance policies, regulations and guidelines.  The desired candidate will also have experience exercising discretion and independent judgement directly related to Medical Assistance Program data and situations.
