POSITION DUTIES

The Comptroller of Maryland's Information Technology Division Distributed Server team is looking for an individual with initiative, autonomy, and leadership ability to fill our IT Technical Support Specialist Manager position to optimize both process and delivery around our Service offerings. The incumbent primary responsibility is to provide support for the Comptroller's architectural roadmap. Maintaining its high standards in innovative technology and focus on transformation. Drawing upon your experience and expertise, you will analyze and translate business and platform/application needs in order to enable the target state design and system patterns that will help drive the modernization as required. This position brings you to the forefront of leadership and driving overall business value by encouraging you to recommend solutions and designs that leverage ITD best practices and standards, while also identifying ways to improve existing enterprise assets and business applications.

PLEASE NOTE:  All ITD employees are available for on-call support. As such, this position is required to occasionally work an off-hour schedule, weekdays prior to 7:30 a.m. and / or after 5:00 p.m., weekends, and holidays.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or other information technology-related field to include course work in operating system and data communication technology for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers.

Experience:3 years managerial experience. 3 years experience IT Strategist, Enterprise Architect and SDLC experience.5 years’ experience with Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Server, Knowledge IBM SAN (XIV, V7000, DS6180 and DS6140)

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Database Design ( SQL server), MS Project, Share Point, Visio, MS Office
  • Knowledge ITIL v3 Foundation Certification.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

Only applicants who meet the minimum and selective qualifications for this recruitment will be considered for this opportunity. The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience. Due to the nature of this list, all qualified applicants are placed on an unranked list of candidates and will remain active on this list for at least one year.  

Qualifying applicants are subject to an oral interview. Prior to appointment, the employee must successfully undergo a comprehensive background investigation including a review of criminal, MVA and tax records; and determination of legal authorization to work in the United States or under the United States Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Upon initial appointment OR promotion to a position in the State Personnel Management System, an employee is required to serve an initial six month probationary period. This probationary period may be extended an additional six months under certain circumstances at the discretion of the appointing authority.
