Main Purpose of Job
This is a professional contractual position responsible for providing leadership and technical assistance for statewide and local instructional assessment programs, including formative and summative assessments and the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation.
POSITION DUTIES
Provides leadership and technical assistance in the development, communication, and implementation of instructional assessment policies, initiatives, and programs; provides technical assistance and facilitates communication for the implementation of Maryland high school graduation requirements; coordinates and collaborates with local school systems and MSDE content staff to implement the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation; coordinates and provides leadership for formative and summative assessment professional development and resources for the Department and local school systems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree or equivalent 36 credit hours of post baccalaureate course work in secondary education, curriculum, assessment, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE: Secondary teaching certification in English, mathematics, science, or history/social studies; four (4) or more years professional teaching experience; high school English, mathematics, government, or biology, preferred; and two (2) or more years of leadership experience.
NOTES:
- Two years of additional experience as defined above may be substituted for the Master’s Degree.
- Possession of a Doctorate in a field related to the position may be substituted for one year of the experience requirements.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Maryland Content Standards, the Maryland Assessment Program, and the Bridge Plan for Academic Validation; expertise in effective formative and summative assessment research and practices; knowledge and experience in data analysis; experience in professional learning design and presentation; ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks; ability to work as a team member and establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and travel throughout the state are required. Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
