Main Purpose of Job

To organize and oversee the production of MCE product(s) in area of responsibility.

POSITION DUTIES

A Maryland Correctional Enterprises (MCE) Plant Manager is the supervisory level of work involving the security, training and supervision of adult inmates engaged in technical and production work of an industrial manufacturing plant located in a correctional institution.  Employees in this classification have overall responsibility for plant operations and directly supervise three or more MCE Officers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management;

High-School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification with three (3) years supervisory experiene in manufacturing (preferably Textiles) may be substituted for degree;

Must successfully complete the Correctional Officer Training Academy.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years in a supervisory position in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the Textiles Industries).

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Knowledge of all aspect of apparel manufacturing and production methods, production planning, quality and inventory control.

2. Background in fabric handling, purchasing and stock control is a plus.

3. Experience in scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions in reconciling inventory of both Raw Materials and Finished Goods.

4. Experience determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product; determining equipment utilization; inventory management and shipping of Finished Goods; inventory management of Capital Equipment/fixed Assets.

5. Knowledge of industrial equipment relevant to Textiles (Pattern-Making and Cutting Room equipment, sewing, machines, garment pressers and embroidery machines) is preferred.

6. Experience troubleshooting mechanical problems that hinder the flow of production is not required, but is a plus.

7. Must be computer literate, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Office Suite.
