Introduction
This is a full-time grant-funded, two-year contractual position with the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT), the State’s historic preservation office, located within the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP). The position is located at MHT’s offices at 100 Community Place, Crownsville, Maryland 21032

Main Purpose of Job
The purpose of the position is to undertake a comprehensive study of the state's architectural survey program, focusing especially on documentation included in the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties.
POSITION DUTIES
MHT is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Architectural Historian to fill the position of Architectural Survey Data Analyst.
Duties of the position will include completing a summary report of survey data by county, outlining the different kinds of survey data found in the inventory, levels of survey documentation, and re-survey needs. The study will include a list of significant themes and major gaps in the survey data identified by county, region or theme, and a report identifying priorities for future survey work throughout the state.
This job requires extreme attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills and a strong interest in working collaboratively. Computer proficiency and demonstrated writing skills are essential.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Historic Preservation, Architectural History, Art History, History, Historic Architecture, Folklore, American Studies, or other closely related field.
Experience: Two years of professional experience and/or preservation internships in one of the above fields.
Notes: 1. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience or education in architectural history.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
