Main Purpose of Job

The Leadership Development Institute (LDI) Program Administrator is responsible for the coordination of Executive Development Training Programs for the Department and for police and correctional client agencies. This position oversees the programs administered to corrections and police and looks for commonalities to address in joint programs. This position requires coordination with numerous professional groups, negotiating partnerships, searching for grant funds, and developing cooperative partnerships that would substantially add to current programs. In addition, research in the field would be required to stay constant with current trends in leadership training and develop programs to assist in training based on client needs. Additionally, this position oversees the Maryland Community Crime Prevention institute, providing crime prevention programming to Maryland communities.  

POSITION DUTIES

Summary of general duties:

Managing the units; directing, coordinating, and overseeing implementation of current training programs.

Develop, enhance and implement training to client agencies.

Consult with the Public Safety Agencies to assist in developing programs for leadership training, succession planning, and management training/staff development.

Coordinate training resources, identify sources of potential grant funding and ensure compliance with grants.

Prepare business plans and budgets to support and justified program expenditures.

Perform other related duties. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

An unofficial copy of your degree/transcript must accompany your application or the college and graduate school information must be completed on your application under the "College and Graduate School Education" section.

Experience: Five years of managerial level experience supervising professional and non-professional employees. Three years which must be coordinating, managing, implementing or evaluating leadership development programs and/or any other training.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are preferred, not required:

Advanced level degree in education, criminal justice, psychology or similar field.

Two years of experience in educational program development, curriculum preparation and instruction.

Experience working with or in the public safety environment/criminal justice field.  

EXAMINATION PROCESS

All persons who meet the minimum  qualifications will be approved on the certification list and will be placed on the employment (eligible) list for at least one year.
