Main Purpose of Job

This position acts as an on-air talent and field producer for MotorWeek. Duties will include research of topics, writing script treatments and final drafts, producing field shoots, supervising editing and graphics for assigned segments, on-camera presentation, and other related duties as needed. Annual deliverables may include producing and/or hosting feature segments of approximately 4 minutes duration, short-format segments of 1 to 3 minutes duration along with occasional on-air appearance in Road Test segments and reasonable travel for shoots, show promotion and press events. This person will also undertake certain administrative functions to assist with the daily production duties of the show.

This position requires frequent day and overnight travel up to approximately 40 nights per year, flexible schedules including nights and weekends, and occasionally working outdoors in adverse weather conditions.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Research topics, writing script treatments and final drafts
  • Producing field shoots, supervising editing and graphics for assigned segments, on camera presentation
  • Produce and/or host feature segments, short formal segments along with occasional on-air appearance in Road test segments and reasonable travel shoots, show promotion and press events
  • Administrative duties to assist with show production
  • Represent MotorWeek at industry press events and sponsor/PR functions

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in film, productions, TV or related discipline

Experience: Two (2) years on-air television production experience.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must accompany the application.

  • Documented experience in writing for television
  • Thorough knowledge of auto industry and related topics

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.  

Leave may be granted to a temporary/contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
