Introduction
Maryland Public Television, which is commonly known by its familiar name "MPT", is a public television network that comprises six television stations that broadcast throughout the entire state of Maryland as well as into the District of Columbia and parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is the only state-wide broadcaster in Maryland. MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service.
This is a Special Appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of the 'Production Editor' position is to provide a basic level of creative and technical video editing expertise in both the story creation and finishing processes. The goal is to provide the best possible product, within the limitations of time and resources allotted. This will be accomplished primarily using Avid's Symphony and Media Composer non-linear editing systems, but secondarily by the use of other editing, graphics and audio plug-ins or stand-alone software packages.
The Production Editor also provides live and pre-recorded studio production support, media duplication and file-based conversion. The Production Editor will need to have basic system and equipment troubleshooting skills.
POSITION DUTIES
Video Editing
Importing, linking and organizing video, audio, graphics and captioning within a non-linear Avid Project
Export a final video in a file-based and/or physical format and backup all essential metadata/media for archival purposes
Studio Production Support
Preparation of video playbacks and performing video recordings of various sources during the studio production
Use of routing switchers to delegate sources for recordings, video monitoring and signal monitoring
Media Duplication
Create duplicate copies of videos to and from various formats, such as XDCAM, HDCAM, Digital Beta, BetaSP, DVD, etc.,
File-based Conversion
Create Screeners, DVD authoring media files, Video-On-Demand(VOD) programming, etc.,
Troubleshooting
Basic operational system and equipment troubleshooting
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three (3) years of television video production experience in non-linear editing.
For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The following qualifications are preferred, not required:
Avid Media Composer/Symphony editing experience
Adobe Premiere editing experience
