Main Purpose of Job

This position reports directly to the Executive Director and serves as the Legislative Liaison and Public Relations Officer for the Maryland Health Care Commission. This position is responsible for development of Commission legislation, reviewing pending legislation, tracking and writing position papers, bill analysis on health care initiatives, preparation and evaluation of testimony, etc. This position is required to analyze health care data to support policy and summarize the results of health care research to determine the impact on health care initiatives taken by the General Assembly. This position will also act as the Public Relations Officer including setting and arranging media contacts, will act as a point of reference regarding issues before the Commission, and designing public relations strategies for implementing new and current Commission initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a bachelor’s degree in health care policy, public policy, health care administration, political science or a closely related field and at least seven years in administrative or professional work.  Evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs is preferred. Must possess knowledge of statistics and have excellent quantitative, analytical and computer skills.  The potential candidate must possess exceptional oral and written communication skills as the individual will be assisting the Executive Director and Commissioners with developing and interpreting health care policy and the subsequent impact in the health care market place and the residents of the state of Maryland.

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.  A resume must accompany your application.
